Deadwood Creek Falls

This amazing and awesome (yes it was actually awe inspiring!) waterfall is on Deadwood Creek, a tributary to the North Yuba River in Northern California. When Cody, Brandi, Will, Darin, Austin, and I made the trek there was still snow on the ground, but it was melting quickly giving Austin the ability to get the first descent. While the road was a bit treacherous with snow, it was a great little mission to be a part of! Also check out the article that Austin wrote for Kokatat.

Original Kale Crunchies Label

I had so much fun designing the new labels for The Kale Company's Original Kale Crunchies! I love seeing a project through from start to finish, it's great how the details evolve and grow. Of course it was also great sampling all the delicious flavors, they are so, so yummy!

Winter X-Games 2012

This January I shot the winter X-Games in Aspen, CO for OnTheSnow. Shooting the X-Games is so much fun, and at every event I watch in amazement as the athletes push themselves to the limit. While this event is fun, exciting, and glamorous, it is also a prime example of what people can accomplish if they really give it their all. Imagine snowboarding/skiing a 22-foot-tall SuperPipe, groomed to perfection. It has an 18-degree pitch, is 66 feet wide wide, and 567 feet long. You could get six or seven hits each run. Now imagine you are competing against the best athletes in the world, in cold conditions, under bright lights, with millions of people watching. Sound intriguing? For the ones that are interested in this, they really give it their all and it shows. I have so much respect for all the athletes involved, you are inspiration to us all!

The 'no snow' photos

Even though this winter season started with a good amount of snow, it hasn't seen much since. A few publications wanted to do a story on the strange weather, the photos I shot are below. They are both at Squaw Valley, the first from this year and the second from last year. Read more about this strange weather at ESPN and The Daily Mail.

Early snow storm sign of another La Nina?

An early snow storm dumped inches upon inches at some of the major ski resorts around the country. Last year Tahoe received almost 70 feet of snow, yes, that's correct, 70 feet. Will it be another big winter? While you're wondering, enjoy a few photos from the storm and the ESPN story they were featured in.

Sneak Peek of Stacia and John's Wedding

I normally go to Squaw in the winter to enjoy the snow, take photos of a comp or hang out with a few friends. Last weekend was an exception and I was thrilled to be a part of such a beautiful event, Stacia and John Lange's wedding. It was at the old stables in the heart of the valley and it was stunning to say the least. The photos below are just a few glimpses into the day. Full gallery of images here.
