NZed

The bright lights of the city blur and become a distant glow. The expansive waters round and show the curve of the earth. The full moon shines bright on the wing of the plane. The place I left so full of life, so full of death. Springtime brings flower buds and chicks, rain and sun. Then fire, ash, and smoke engulfs homes and memories. Earthquakes shake the ground and everything on it. The end of something is always the beginning of another. I think of when we lay under the stars, when we laugh and share our dreams. The end of what we had is just the beginning of what we will have for the rest of our lives.

Are you a bit peckish? How about a yummy bikkie? I was a little confused when I was asked these questions on the plane from Auckland to Christchurch. But the flight attendant quickly realized I did not understand what he was saying
(maybe by the puzzled look on my face), so he asked me if I wanted a chocolate chip cookie. Of course I said yes, and then I realized I need to start paying attention to the New Zealand lingo. If not, I could end up with something I do not want!

Right now I am at Willow Creek Cottage in beautiful Kaiapoi, New Zealand. There's snow on the mountains and the nights are cold. The day I arrived was a very wet and rainy one. For the past few days the sun has been shining though. I have had fun doing yoga and gymnastics (to the best of my ability) in the olive groves. I have planted cranberry bushes and have dug up the last of the tomato plants. I miss the warm California weather, but I know when I return it will feel as though it's too soon. This land is so beautiful and I expect to be able to upload the images and videos I have been taking soon!

Going to go dig some weeds and pick some lettuce and spinach for dinner.
